Giving the Gift of Leg Up!

red_plaid_duoThe latest Leg Up winner has your holidays wrapped up! On November 13, Sara announced that the newest featured entrepreneur would be Ashley Edmonds, founder of lilywrap, an easy-to-use gift wrap alternative that saves time…and trees!

These reusable wrappings mimic the look and feel of traditional wrapping paper—bow and all—and are available in a variety of colors and patterns. A patent-pending stretchy fabric wrap is offered in three sizes, so no matter the gift shape, your present is covered.

“I love giving gifts, but can’t stand wrapping them,” Sara said. “My friends and family laugh at my ‘creative’ gift wrapping. Thanks to lilywrap, I don’t have to worry about the wrapping! And because they’re reusable, it’s like giving a gift, inside a gift.”

Spanx-Giving Cooking With Sara

With Thanksgiving only a few days away, we caught up with a holiday-prepping Sara Blakely to get all the juicy details on her favorite Turkey Day recipe: Thanksgiving Corn and Oysters.

“My mom, [grandmother] Nannie and I have been making this every Thanksgiving for as long as I can remember,” Sara says. “It never tastes as good as when the three of us make it together!”

You’ll Need:

2 cans creamed corn

2 cans fresh oysters

Your favorite hot sauce to taste “We are wimpy and only do several shakes! You might want more!”

1 package of Ritz crackers…2 sleeves, crushed

2 sticks of butter “I know, but you just eat a little…besides that’s what SPANX are for!”

To Prepare:

Brown the crackers in the butter

Rinse and drain the oysters. Place on paper towels to dry out.  Cut in 1/2 or 3rds depending on size.

Layer crackers that have been finely crushed and sautéed into butter-greased pan, then oysters

1 layer crackers pressed into butter greased pan, then oysters, then creamed corn.

Finish with crackers on top.

Bake at 350 until hot and bubbly (about 45 minutes)

Get your SPANX on and enjoy as many helpings as you’d like…we won’t tell!
