Giving the Gift of Leg Up!

red_plaid_duoThe latest Leg Up winner has your holidays wrapped up! On November 13, Sara announced that the newest featured entrepreneur would be Ashley Edmonds, founder of lilywrap, an easy-to-use gift wrap alternative that saves time…and trees!

These reusable wrappings mimic the look and feel of traditional wrapping paper—bow and all—and are available in a variety of colors and patterns. A patent-pending stretchy fabric wrap is offered in three sizes, so no matter the gift shape, your present is covered.

“I love giving gifts, but can’t stand wrapping them,” Sara said. “My friends and family laugh at my ‘creative’ gift wrapping. Thanks to lilywrap, I don’t have to worry about the wrapping! And because they’re reusable, it’s like giving a gift, inside a gift.”

SPANX Thanks Women Who #ShapeTheVote

At Spanx, we want to empower women to get out and shape the world. We believe in the right to let every voice be heard, so we spent the day rewarding women who exercised that power by getting out and voting in their own cities. We randomly selected women who Tweeted about voting and sent them New & Slimproved Power Panties to thank them for putting their butts on the line at the polls.

The new version of this SPANX favorite stands on a panty platform of improved design features: More compression and less bulk make Power Panties a top contender for every rear-ender!

Every voice counts and we appreciate every woman who took the time to take a stand and #ShapeTheVote!

SPANX Supports Jeffrey Fashion Cares Atlanta (For the 7th Year in a Row)

IMG_7706Jeffrey Kalinsky, creator and style-aficionado behind eponymous boutiques in Atlanta and New York, hosted the 21st annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares Atlanta fashion show and cocktail fete. Every year the proceeds from this sartorial soiree benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure—Greater Atlanta Affiliate, and the Atlanta AIDS Fund.

One of the hottest tickets in town, the runway show features fashions from Jeffrey Atlanta as well as legwear from SPANX! The August 26 party marked the event’s “coming of age,” as it was the 21st JFC. 2013 was also the 7th year in a row that SPANX has been involved in this worthy cause.

This year’s fashions were straight off the international runways, with pieces from design houses like Dior, Oscar de la Renta and Saint Laurent.

In addition to adding a splash of SPANX to the leggy looks, we went behind the seams and showed our social media followers the event from before to after party! Check out our Facebook and Instagram coverage for all the designer details.

We also had a chance to chat with Jeffrey owner and event founder, Jeffrey Kalinsky. Read on to find out his fall favorites and why he thinks SPANX are important for all fashionistas!

SPANX: What your three favorite trends for fall?

Jeffrey Kalinsky: My favorite trends for fall are – sweatshirts as luxe tops, single-sole pointy shoes, and fit and flare dressing.

SPANX: What item should every fashionista have in her wardrobe?

JK: Every fashionista should have a piece of clothing that is white for fall.

SPANX: Why is shapewear important for all women?

JK: I am a fan of shapewear for women, because every woman should have the freedom to wear what they want.

SPANX: What are you most excited about at this year’s Atlanta event?

JK: I am most excited to raise more money than ever at the event this year.

Leg Up Steps Out

Leg Up winner Neeley Kolsch celebrated the one-year anniversary of her company, Well-Kept, with a party at local Atlanta boutique (and SPANX retailer) Fab’rik. The soiree included the unveiling of the a new pattern from the screen cleaning towelette line’s fashionable packaging. The event also included a stocking stuffer drive to donate stockings to 50 worthy girls from Wellspring Living, a safe home for girls rescued out of human traficking. Spanx donated a $100 gift card to be raffled off to raise funds.

Finally, Neeley toasted Spanx and Sara, thanking us for the Leg Up! Spanx-ters Michelle, Maggie, Kyle and Pey attended the event and snapped some photos with the Leg Up winner (center in striped dress).

Giving More Entrepreneurs a Leg Up!

Mackenzie Colt, Neely Kolsch and Ava Anderson

The latest round of Leg Up winners has been announced in the 2012 Spanx holiday catalog. In honor of the season, the theme for this round of winners was gift giving, and Sara is looking forward to sharing the winners’ wares with her friends and family this holiday season.

Well-Kept offers a stylish solution to dirty cell phones, lenses and electronics – screen cleaning towlettes in a cute, portable package.

“I noticed blemishes along the side of my face and found that a cell phone could be dirtier than a toilet handle,” said founder, Neeley Kolsch when asked to describe her ah-ha moment.

“I admire how Neeley saw a void in the marketplace and delivered a solution in a cute, fashionable way,” Sara said.

Ava Anderson Non-Toxic was created when 15-year-old Ava Anderson decided to create a line of high-performing bath, beauty and cleaning products that are totally safe for humans and the environment after experiencing the difficulty of finding easily identifiable, non-toxic products, Anderson said.

“I couldn’t believe that Ava was only 15 when she started the company – a great reminder that you’re never to young (or old!) to trust your gut,” Sara said.

Colts Chocolates owner Mackenzie Colt has seen her motto, ‘everything has everything to do with everything’ at work in her own company’s story.

“I got married young, at age 15, and had my son at 16. I wasn’t able to finish high school but supported my family and put my husband through college and law school by performing music around St. Louis. For years I made chocolates at home for family and friends. People were constantly asking to buy them but when I received a midnight phone call from Dolly Parton asking for my chocolates…that’s when I thought, ‘I think I have something here!’”

“Mackenzie’s story is so inspiring. She took matters into her own hands and really followed her dreams. And who doesn’t love a sweet treat!” says Sara.

Congratulations to these three incredible business women!
