Atlanta is rapidly becoming the Hollywood of the South, which means our ongoing relationships with celebrities and costumers can grow and flourish in person. Local celeb (and one of the manliest onscreen crossdressers in the history of cinema) Tyler Perry set up shop here full-time nearly 5 years ago. And while we’ve been working with the studio–which plays home to both film and television productions–the PR team had its first opportunity to visit the creative compound this week.
Spanx-ters from the PR team packed up wardrobe essentials (including the Hide & Sleek Hi-Rise Thong, pieces from the In-Power Line and Tight-End Tights) for the cast of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and headed for the set. After getting through what might be tightest security in town (NDAs! Drivers License numbers! Pat downs!—Ok, maybe not that last one.), we met up with the costume department for an unprecedented tour of the facility.
While we can’t divulge much (see above) we can tell you that the studios are enormous and play home to a backlot that could give any Hollywood studio a run for its money. We can tell you that the cast members of House of Payne, Meet the Browns and current Tyler Perry film production The Marriage Counselor, are huge Spanx fans.
Check out picture the pic from outside the gates of Tyler Perry Studios (we were informed we could only shoot from off property, which led to some exciting stealth shooting tactics). Or visit TylerPerry.com for your own tour as given by Mr. Perry himself.
